Sharing breeding experiences and tips.....

.The idea behind this site is that it will be somewhere for Pionus keepers, both in the UK and elsewhere, to share information.

Hopefully we can help promote the knowledge and understanding of these Parrots.

I am particularly keen to establish parent-reared stock to ensure that these birds can be maintained successfully for future generations.

In the UK Pionus can lay eggs at any time from early spring to mid-late summer/autumn. As I write, (August 7th), we have young Blue-headed about to leave the nest but I know of breeders whose birds have just laid.

The average number of young seems to be two or three but I spoke to a breeder whose Maximillians laid, and hatched, 6 eggs this year.
